My name is Sophia, and I am currently studying mathematics, further mathematics, physics and chemistry in Newstead Wood School.
I am passionate about using my abilities in STEM and creative thinking to work on small projects that have the potential to make impacts to the people and environment around me. I am looking forward to taking part in engineering and science-related competitions to develop my current knowledge into applicable skills that will benefit society in the future.
In my free time, I try to learn about how different structures are built by reading books and articles. My current interest is in the structure of transport systems, like tramways, and how they can be adapted in response to climate change both in the UK and globally. I believe that people should strive for knowledge independently, as well as utilising resources that are provided to them by schools.
I would like to thank the Rochester Bridge Trust for providing me with opportunities that will help expand my love for the subjects I study, and for making me look forward to my future as a civil engineer.
