My name is Alfie, and I am currently studying for A-Levels in Maths, Further Maths, Physics and Computer Science at Sir Joseph Williams Mathematics School. My studies are definitely challenging, but I am passionate about completing my education so that I may secure a position in mechanical or electrical engineering in the future.
I have always been inspired by people who revolutionise industry and our lives with their designs for infrastructure and products. I hope that I myself may one day make a groundbreaking impact in this field.
My enjoyment of engineering was formed at an early age, stemming from frequent visits to the Royal Engineers Museum as well as hands-on and creative work I undertook with the Scouts. At school, while I did not take it for A-Level, I loved DT (Design Technology). It was my favourite subject and I thoroughly enjoyed competing in DT competitions for my school. I also really enjoyed the coursework I did before and during my GCSEs.
Undertaking this scholarship has only further increased my appreciation of engineering, especially of how important it is in our daily lives.
I look forward to completing my A-Levels and looking into an apprenticeship in the engineering field.
