Aspiring engineers are being invited to take part in a special screening of an inspirational film as part of International Women in Engineering Day (INWED).
On Friday, 23rd June, the Rochester Bridge Trust will be hosting a private showing of Hidden Figures, the award-winning film based on the true story of three female African-American mathematicians who were part of the space race.
The screening will be free and is open to schools and colleges in Kent, Medway, Bexley and Bromley (old Kent). Places are limited so tickets must be booked, with up to five students and teachers (male and female) from the sixth form or promising year 11s invited to attend from each establishment.
Aileen White, Education Officer at the Rochester Bridge Trust, explained: “Hidden Figures is an inspirational film that shows the obstacles these brilliant women overcame to become integral parts of NASA’s engineering team. By showing the film to young people for free, we hope to encourage more of them to appreciate the possibilities engineering can offer.”
The event will run from 4pm until 6.30pm, please email education@rbt.org.uk to find out how to book your tickets.
