I’m fortunate enough to have visited CERN, where I was both overwhelmed and fascinated by the scale of engineering involved in the Large Hadron Collider. The intricacy of the mechanics and the teamwork of the engineers has rendered it all possible and made me want to be involved in such a project in the future.
I’m 16 years old and have recently begun studying towards A-levels in maths, further maths, physics and chemistry at Dulwich College, with the aim of reading civil engineering at university – hopefully Cambridge.
Being selected as a Rochester Bridge Trust Arkwright Engineering Scholar is a great opportunity for me to work with the Trust while I study. I applied for the scheme because I’m passionate about pursuing engineering as a career and this relationship will give me an early and valuable insight into the real-world application of engineering.
