My name is Madiha, and I am currently studying mathematics, further mathematics, physics, and economics at Sir Joseph Williamson’s Mathematical School. From a young age, mathematics has been my favourite subject because of my passion for problem-solving and analytical reasoning. My A-level studies in physics have allowed me to understand how these skills can be applied to real-world situations, inspiring my interest in engineering. I look forward to further exploring the physical world around me while being intellectually challenged.
I have always been fascinated by how remarkable structures, like the great wonders of the world, were created. The ingenuity and precise calculations that ancient civilizations employed to build marvels like the pyramids demonstrate the human capacity for innovation and determination. This curiosity has fuelled my desire to contribute to the development of modern engineering marvels.
Living in Rochester, I have observed local architectural feats, such as the historic bridges, and their vital role in connecting communities and driving progress. The benefits of infrastructure, such as bridges and highways, in fostering regional development and improving people’s lives have deeply resonated with me. My passion for mathematics, combined with my aspiration to positively impact society, has led me to consider pursuing a future in engineering.
Lastly, I would like to thank Rochester Bridge Trust for providing me with this unique opportunity by sponsoring me.
