At the moment, our engineers and contractor are working on the river walls belonging to the Trust.
A large machine called a “Mobile Elevated Work Platform” or MEWP is being used to reach the river walls from dry land. The engineers and workers are strapped into the “basket” which is then lifted over the railings and lowered down to reach the walls.
While the tide is low, workers are removing weed and dirt so that the engineers can inspect the walls underneath. They are looking for cracks, missing bricks and stones, missing mortar between the bricks and any other damage. The workers will then repair any problems they find.
All the work is being paid for by the Trust.
