This past academic year, I have had achievements both within lessons and outside. I was recently given the predicted grades A*AB for my subjects Maths, Further Maths and Physics, and in May, I sat my AS Further Maths exam and achieved an A.
In October I was selected to be a physics prefect, and within that role, I represented the school’s Physics Department during the Year 11 and Year 5 open days. I was tasked with operating different experiments that were related to the school curriculum and explaining the theory behind them.
I took part in multiple competitions this year, like the Senior Physics Challenge, which involved working through complex concepts in physics. I also entered Samsung “Solve for tomorrow” design competition, where I designed an energy-efficient air conditioning mechanism for school buildings that is powered by food waste.
I attended University events like QMUL’s “Materials Detectives” event and the University of Manchester’s “Physics for a greener Planet” webinar. I used the concept of green Physics from that webinar to make a presentation on the Physics of wind turbines, which I presented in front of my class and teacher.
A few weeks ago, I got the opportunity to take part in a week’s work experience in a company that specialises in Robotics engineering, where I learnt about the process for large engineering projects and all the roles that have to be undertaken. Despite being more interested in Civil Engineering, this experience provided me with an insight into the daily life of an engineer, which I was grateful for.
