Arkwright engineering scholars welcomed by medieval sponsors

Three high-flying engineers of the future have received a warm welcome from the medieval charity that is sponsoring them.

Alex, Alfie and Louis are the latest young people to become Rochester Bridge Trust Arkwright Engineering Scholars, joining a growing group of young engineers that have been supported by the charity over the last 15 years. They were officially welcomed to the Trust during a presentation event and lunch at the Bridge Chapel in Rochester.

James Miller, Education Officer at the Rochester Bridge Trust, said: “Since we welcomed our first Arkwright scholars all those years ago, we’ve been pleased to support and encourage so many promising young people and see them embarking on successful careers. It was a pleasure to meet this new trio and we look forward to being a part of their continuing development.”

Alex is a student at Whitgift School, Croydon; Alfie attends Gravesend Grammar School; and Louis is at The Judd School in Tonbridge. All three are studying towards their A-levels at schools within the historic county of Kent. They were introduced to the Rochester Bridge Trust by Smallpeice Trust, which manages the scholarships.

In addition to these scholarships, other opportunities are available via the Rochester Bridge Trust. Visit www.rbt.org.uk/scholarships for information and to apply for the next round of scholarships.
