Can you puzzle your way out of the free family escape room?

Families can “get out of jail free” when they take on the challenge of an escape room created by the Rochester Bridge Trust.

Free of charge and hosted at Nucleus Arts in Chatham, the Family Escape Room will see children and adults race against the clock as they work together to solve a range of engineering challenges.

Education Officer James Miller explained: “The summer holidays can be a tough time for families looking to entertain children without breaking the bank, so we decided to help by creating our own engineering escape room.

“The activity is completely free of charge and designed to be both fun and educational. Our only requirement is that all groups are a mix of children and adults, because that’s the best combination to enjoy this puzzling experience.”

The room can accommodate groups of up to eight, with a recommended ratio of one adult to two children. It will be run by the Rochester Bridge Trust’s education team. Other engineering activities will be running alongside the escape room so families can make the most of their time at the venue.

James added: “All groups must have accompanying children – this is a family event so we ask for no lone adults or groups without children for the benefit of all taking part. Smaller groups may end up sharing the room with others and we encourage children and adults to embrace the teamwork aspect of some of the challenges.”

The event takes place on Friday, 23 August. Slots last for half an hour and can be booked between 10am and 3.30pm. For more information and to book, visit Eventbrite.
