Frances – Telford Engineering Scholarship

I am currently studying A-level maths, further maths, physics and art at Rainham Mark Grammar School. I think that a career in engineering can allow me to combine my creativity and interest in physics, and I believe that the Telford scholarship will allow me to experience what working in the field can be like.

I am interested in engineering because of how much thought and different concepts goes into designing something. Outside of my studies, I find myself fluctuating between a lot of hobbies such as learning different instruments or creating art in various mediums, and I have already learnt from the Rochester Bridge Trust that a career in engineering can offer a range of ways for me to apply myself and my problem solving skills.

As well as engineering, I have always had a big interest in architecture. Learning about civil engineering specifically has made me more confident about where I want to take my career. I have now realised how much of a creative field engineering is.
