Silke – Bridge Wardens’ Arkwright Scholar 2016

I’m a sixth former at Maidstone Grammar School for Girls, where I’m studying maths, physics, product design and art graphics.

From childhood I have been intrigued by the technology and skills required to make everyday products. This intense curiosity has inspired my ambition to go to university to study product design engineering.

Even though my career path is yet to be defined, I know I want to use my studies to benefit the people and world around me. I believe one of the great elements of engineering is the ability to make change and leave a positive impact through your work.

I applied to be an Rochester Bridge Trust Arkwright Engineering Scholar because of the prestige of the award and the significant amount of support and opportunities it brings. Through the scheme I am able to expand my knowledge of the extensive range of possibilities that await me in a career in engineering. This makes me both grateful and excited to have been selected as a Rochester Bridge Trust Arkwright Engineering Scholar.

If you are passionate about engineering I would definitely recommend the Rochester Bridge Trust Arkwright Engineering Scholarships – the possibility to be part of something this beneficial and inspiring should not be missed.
