Parents and guardians of under 16s are being sought to take part in a short interview to support education research.
All About Bridges was a free, family event held by Rochester Bridge Trust, inside the Nave of Rochester Cathedral and outside in the Garth Garden, in August 2022. Adults who took children to the event are now sought to take part in an informal interview to inform a dissertation.
The interview could take place over Microsoft Teams or in-person at the offices of the Trust. It would involve the participant answering questions about their experience of the All About Bridges event and trying to gauge involvement and interest in STEM (science, technology, engineering and maths) activities. Knowledge or experience of these subjects is not necessary, the priority is to find interviewees who attended All About Bridges.
Caroline Chisholm, Education Manager at the Rochester Bridge Trust, explained: “As part of my studies towards a Masters in STEM Education, I’m exploring the ongoing influence of informal STEM engagement events on positive attitudes towards engineering.
“These short interviews are a way of going beyond the written feedback form. There are no right or wrong answers and no engineering knowledge is required, this would simply be an informal chat to help with my research.”
